Norway is seeking a medium-range anti-tank missile system and will test-fire the US Javelin and the Israeli Gill/Spike missiles in March. A recommendation is to be made by the Norwegian Army to the Ministry of Defense in the fall of 2002, leading to a contract in early 2003. Weapons will be delivered starting in fall 2003 and will continue through 2007. Norwegian observers have attended similar tests in Finland and Canada and are designing their test scenarios to avoid duplication of previous tests. The Norwegians are wanting "warm climate" test data for the first time (since they might deploy troops on an international mission) but will be using data from other competitions rather than conducting their own tests.--Stephen V Cole
