Artillery: November 20, 2000

Archives

German artillery has won a second stunning victory over the American M109, snapping up the Dutch order for 60 new PanzerHaubitzer-2000 guns for delivery in 2003. (These will equip two active and one reserve battalions with 18 guns each, the other six will go to training and maintenance units.) The Germans previously picked up an order for 60 PzH-2000s and expect to sell them more. The Dutch and Italian guns are effectively identical to the ones now being delivered to the German Army. The Germans have ordered 185 PzH-2000s and have received more than 80.--Stephen V Cole
