The British Army plans to combine its two UAV (pilotless aircraft) batteries (which provide artillery forward observer duties) into one UAV regiment. Currently, 57 Battery supports 39 Regiment (MLRS) while 22 Battery supports the 32nd Regiment (also MLRS). Combining the two into a single Regiment will consolidate logistical and contractor support and eliminate duplication. Both batteries use Phoenix UAVs built by British Aerospace.--Stephen V Cole
