India reports that 150 of its troops have been killed in accidental landmine explosions since troops were deployed to the Pakistani border in December. These have been caused by defective triggers in some batches of anti-tank mines. In several cases, a mine being checked by one soldier detonated, causing dozens of other mines in the area to detonate, causing multiple deaths.--Stephen V Cole
