Portugal has signed a contract with Lockheed Martin to upgrade its P-3P Orion maritime patrol planes, extending their service lives by 25 years and improving their interoperability with other NATO patrol planes that have received upgrades. The planes will be upgraded, one per year, from 2002 through 2008.--Stephen V Cole
