In the last year, Tajikistan has arrested over a hundred members of the Hizbi Tahrir (Party of Freedom). The group was founded in the 1950s by a Palestinian, for the purpose of creating an Islamic Republic in Central Area. The group has several thousand members in Tajikistan, most of whom are Uzbeks.
