Brazil announced that it had shut down three FARC camps in Brazil. The camps were used for training and vacations, as well as way stations for rebels going to and from Europe. The camps were organized and run by a wealthy Lebanese immigrant.

The search for the three Americans kidnapped by FARC continues, with FARC appearing more and more anxious about what US Special Forces commandos might be up to. FARC announced that their American captives are safe, unless a rescue attempt is made. Then again, that is taken for granted by any rescuers.  However, France wants to pay ransom for some of the captives who hold French citizenship. The government refuses to do this, as it just encourages the rebels to kidnap more people.
