A junior naval officer was arrested, and a large quantity of explosives were seized. The officer is thought to be part of a plot to kill the president. The officer is thought to be a member of a secret patriotic society in the military that was granted amnesty a few years ago if they agreed to disband. Rebel followers of Nur Misuari attacked an army patrol, leaving 11 rebels and three soldiers wounded.
