Chechen rebel president Aslan Maskhadov has denied any responsibility for the recent suicide bombings, which have killed mainly Chechens, most of them civilians. But Maskhadov does not represent all of the Chechen rebels, and some of the rebel factions are Islamic radicals who are known to be working with al Qaeda members.
