The UN reported that it now has 12 refugee camps operating in Chad to help house refugees from Sudan's Darfur region. A twelfth camp --located near the town of Gaga- was opened this week to relieve overcrowding in two nearby camps. Specifically, the report said the two other camps, at Breidjing and Farchana, simply had "too many people." The Breidjing and Farchana camps have around 50,000 refugees. Initially, 173 refugees were re-located to the new camp, with more to follow. Gaga has water resources that other camps lack and could handle up to 30,000 refugees. There are 197,000 Darfur refugees in Chad, and over two million in Sudan.
