Meanwhile, the new parliament held its first session. The government said the new parliament shows that Sudan is implementing the peace agreement (ie, the peace settlement in the south). The government also refused to renew the agreement that allowed Ugandan troops to operate in the south, in pursuit of LRA rebels. The LRA is considered defeated, and the Sudanese forces should be able to take care of it. Uganda disagrees.
