Federal authorities released Moroccan-born Yousseff Karroum on 4 Feb after he could not be linked to the Ahmed Ressam bomb plot. Karroum, who lives just north of the border and enters the US every week to buy groceries, said that the US government was confusing Islam with terrorism and had arrested him only because he was a Moslem. Karroum, a Canadian citizen, said he would never visit the US again. He offered no explanation as to why bomb-sniffing dogs might have smelled traces of explosives
