The Greek government announced that its 107 of it 137-man military contingent in Albania would be withdrawn. 30 military advisers will remain in Albania as instructors. The Greek contingent was sent to Albania in 1997 as part of a peacekeeping force that helped restore order during the chaotic collapse of the Albanian government.

June 23 Montenegro has accused two Serb brothers, Ivan and Milan Lovnic, of the attempted assassination of Serb opposition leader Vuk Draskovic. The assassination attempt took place in Budva, Montenegro on June 15. Moontenegro is attempting to extradite from Serbia four other suspects who allegedly helped orchestrate the crime.
