India-Pakistan: November 16, 2003

Archives

In northeastern India, tribal separatists tossed a hand grenade into a Hindu temple in Assam, killing one and wounding 17. Native tribes resent the movement of Hindu outsiders into their territory. In another part of the region, seven rebels belonging to NLFT were killed. Nearby, members of two rebel groups (NLFT and ATTF) fought each other, leaving two dead.

Relations between India and Pakistan may warm up if the current Pakistani crackdown on Islamic radicals, including Kashmiri rebels, does indeed reduce the activity of the Kashmiri rebels.
